Astronauts' Tim Gregory and the end of Cassini

Malcolm and Andrew are joined in the studio by Tim Gregory to discuss the wonderful BBC Two series Astronauts: Do you have what it takes which stars Tim.

As you can see from the picture, they had a wonderful time and you can listen to the resulting podcast here now. The podcast was recorded in the new BCFM studios and there was a small problem with the sound so we apologise for the slightly less than perfect audio but think you'll agree that Tim is worth it.

Tim, Andrew and Malcolm also discuss the awe of the wonderful Cassini mission and how dogs vote by sneezing...no really!

We are a way for the Cosmos to know itself, Exomoons and crickets

There's an alien moon outside our solar system, a moon with the possibility of alien life within our solar system and up to half the matter in our galaxy coming from supernova explosions in our galactic neighbours for Malcolm, Hannah and Andrew to explore in today's episode of Love and Science.

The Huygens probe snapped the above images of Saturn's Moon Titan.

Somehow, they also find time to discuss the hoped for return of crickets and the darkening of Greenland.

Finally, John Ford pops in to give us some interesting titbits that happened on this day in science history.

Prof Alice Roberts, NASA Chief Scientist Ellen Stofan & Dr Lauren Gavaghan

It's an interview packed show this week as Andrew, freshly back from the wonderful Cheltenham Science Festival, is joined by Professor Alice Roberts, former NASA Chief Scientist Ellen Stofan, Philosopher, scientist and poet Professor Ray Tallis and Dr Lauren Gavaghan.

Up first is Prof Alice Roberts to answer our listener Lyra's question "How do we grow?" Alice also discuess the stunning new discovery of "The first of our kind". We also hear of the Professor's forthcoming book and book tour "Tamed".

Alice is followed swiftly by Ellen Stofan who tells us about her favourite mission (Cassini) and just what it takes to be Chief Scientist at NASA. If you're looking for Andrew from now on, he'll mostly be looking at NASA's NIAC pages.

Ellen Stofan's work has laid the way for humans to walk on Mars. On this show, Ellen is followed by Professor Raymond Tallis who shares his concerns about the way politicians misuse science

Ray Tallis also mentions Jeremy Hunt's plans for the NHS and is followed on the show by NHS constultant Dr Lauren Gavaghan.

Lauren tells us why she is fighting for the NHS. 

Bloodhound SSC and Trump pulls out of Paris Climate Agreement

Malcolm is joined by Ben Sykes to talk all about the Bloodhound SSC project.
